I saw one the other day, I think I had it in my DOTS. They were around back then, mostly older people who bought into the retro thing. My aunt Krista wanted one but never did get one.

I think they actually did okay with the exterior. Had a neighbor growing up with one and I didn’t mind it...but holy hell did they phone in that interior...and rest of it really.

Yeah if they had followed through it might have been something pretty cool.

While I was on vacation recently I saw one of these in a goldish color, top down, absolutely flawless. Piloted by an older guy looking his best, cruising the beach enjoying his day. Apparently the guy ahead of him parked in the angled street parking spot didn’t have as keen an eye for such things, or anything, because he didn’t bother looking behind himself and just kept backing. And as nice as it was the guy driving the t-bird apparently didn’t have such a keen eye either, because I saw it coming from down the block in an angled space of my own.. still there, because I actually looked.
It being them driving bumper to bumper into each other to great effect, of course.

Perfect summery of America, great looking on the outside, horrid and outdated on the inside!

If the interior was half as distinctive as the exterior without relying on hideous tacky ornamentation and it had the drivetrain to back up its looks, well, that would have been a different story.
It doesn’t make any sense for someone to actually want that in a different country. They were designed for people who yearned for the good old days but didn’t actually want the good old days.

You know what? I’m going to admit that I actually like them. The Thunderbird was never a sports car, it was always a personal luxury car, so the automatic and somewhat mild performance are perfectly on-brand, and they did a decent job adapting the 1950s lines to a modern platform. The interior is garbage though, Bill Ford should have been ashamed to charge what they charged new and have the inside look like that. Cheapo plastic and generic ‘00s styling, with a splash of color in an effort to distract you from that.

i dont like how it looks and the interior is horrible
but i dont have a problem with the automatic or performance..its a cruiser...i think its actually better with a slushbox...some cars just are
